Special Event for the Salvation Army
October 31, 2011
I love the Salvation Army for many reasons, one being all the help they give for those in need. I was privileged to be asked to do the flowers for their soft ground breaking breakfast and ceremony. We chose flowers that are in the palette of their organizations colors: red, yellow and blue. The flowers came in so stunningly perfect that one would take a double look to see if they were real. What a privilege to be able to do what I love for an organization I have admired over the years.

Wildflower Bliss
October 23, 2011
Wandering into a field with the breeze blowing and blue as far as the eye could see…. This describes the flowers for today’s wedding perfectly! While designing them I felt I had stumbled into an English garden. There was every hue of blue you could imagine and each of the bouquets are airy in style almost as if you had gone out and gathered them before walking down the aisle. What made the entire event even more special was that it took place at a church built in 1637. It felt as though I had truly stepped back in time. Enjoy!

Romance at the Museum
October 10, 2011
This wedding was like something out of a magazine filled with romance and a regal ambiance only the museum can give. As the sun went down and the candles were lit the dancing began. All I can say is I wanted to stay until the clock struck midnight. Congrats to a wonderful bride and groom and their families!

Nosegays
October 10, 2011
Nosegays, also known as posies or tussie-mussies, originate from medieval times and it is basically a small bouquet of flowers that one would wear or carry to keep the nose happy when around unpleasant smells of the day. They became especially popular during the Victorian era where the tussie-mussie, as it was known, was a very important part of a person’s fashion statement. I love them because they add an elegant touch to any special occasion that requires flowers. For a dance they are delightful not only because you can set them down to have fun on the dance floor, you also get to enjoy them all week long in a vase. Here are some pictures from a recent homecoming dance where boys ordered nosegays instead of wrist corsages.

Woodland Vows
June 22, 2011
There was something special about this wedding from the beginning. The couple, the choice of flowers, the location, even that their date was on summer solstice. It was my privilege to part of their special day. Imagine fresh green moss, little white flowers, lots of twigs, a little bit of whimsy and you will be whisked away to the scene where sunrise met romance. Shades of Purple
June 17, 2011
I have been noticing lately how much I am drawn to the color purple. In the floral world there are so many variations that can lean towards blue, lavender or even pink. As I look back on growing up, purple was often a color I would choose for special occasions like the dress I wore for my college senior recital, or the bridesmaid dresses in our wedding. This theme has been coming up lately in my floral design. Check out some of these color palettes with a shade or shades of purple.
